Background:
An IT manufacturing plant reached out to our lift installation company with a unique challenge. They needed to transport goods to the mezzanine level of their facility, which was not designed with a lift installation in mind. This presented a significant challenge, as it limited the available options for a suitable lift. Our team was tasked with finding a solution that could meet the client’s requirements without requiring costly modifications to the mezzanine structure. After assessing the site and discussing the requirements with the client, we proposed a self-supporting 1000kg goods lift that could be installed with only minor alterations to the mezzanine.
Project Description: The lift installation project involved the sourcing and installation of a 1000kg goods lift for the transportation of goods to the mezzanine level of the facility. The lift structure supplied was designed to be self-supporting, which eliminated the need for costly modifications to the mezzanine. In addition, with low lateral loads, it would not place undue stress on the surrounding framework. This aspect of the lift was the most important consideration for the client, as the mezzanine had not originally been designed to accommodate a lift installation. The lift also had safety features such as interlocks, emergency stop buttons, and overload protection to ensure safe operation
Installation: The installation of the lift was carried out in-house by our team of experienced lift engineers. The installation process involved two surveys of the site, an initial consultation, a sign-off survey, and a second pre-installation survey carried out two weeks prior to delivery of the lift to ensure all services were in place and appropriate works were completed. Once on-site, our engineers began the installation of the lift and structure, and within five days, had the unit tested and ready for handover.
Conclusion: The installation of the self-supporting 1000kg goods lift has provided the client with a reliable and efficient way to transport goods to the upper level of their facility. Its small footprint has helped to maximize the available space in the plant. The low lateral loads of the lift have not caused any issues with the mezzanine level, and the lift has operated safely and efficiently since its installation. We are proud to have been able to provide a customized solution to meet our client’s specific requirements and look forward to working with them on future projects.
